My updos are always hits or misses.
Have you noticed how a lot of natural hair vlogs, blogs, twit pics, and etc, usually feature hairstyles that are always fab; thus, giving off the impression that bad hair days are rarities? Yes, I'm aware that hair tutorials are supposed to showcase the end product, which should be impressive enough for us to want to replicate it. But, here on GTG, we will acknowledge the days that exist when hairstyles just will not cooperate.
Forging ahead...
I lost another battle to another bout of restlessness yesterday and so, I decided to test out some new highlighting and contouring makeup techniques. My sparks of inspiration seem to happen late at night, and after a full face later, my undone hair seemed to be begging for attention.
I was going for a pomp in the front a la Janelle Monae, but with two tucked halves in the back.
I wanted a style that had more Gbam! to it, but after a few more trials, I resorted to my favorite method to salvage failed styles.

The Technique
After my last wash, over 1 week ago, my hair has been in two strand twists. Though they aren't the ideal hair style for my hair, they are definitely quick and convenient.
The twists were taken out and lightly misted with oil and water.
Scarves remedy my hair tragedies.
I have a lot of hair fails, so I have a lot of scarves.
I get major shrinkage with twists that lead to tangles, which is why I opt for more stretching through braidouts. |
Easy Style no. 1
The scarf was wrapped around the back of my head, while the two ends were brought towards the front and secured into a ribbon bow.
Easy Style no. 2
The scarf was wrapped over the front pomp and tied at an angle, close to my right ear.
Easy Style no. 3
A scarf hair tie was simply placed around my head.
Does it ever feel like having natural hair turns you into a bobby pin wielding, scarf brandishing, quick thinking plan A B C, MacGyver?

Ha Ha. Yes o! They're like jewelry for your hair! Girl, it's funny, but I get the most compliments on the bad hair days when I just want to hide.
