One of my oldest and dearest friends is getting married in
a few months. She's in really good company too, as I have four
additional weddings to attend or work between now and December. I
wonder what the heck is in the water? I didn't know fall weddings were
so popular sha.
So, she's solicited my help
in coming up with hairstyle ideas for her big day. As a makeup artist, this will be an
entirely new foray for me. Nonetheless, I've started tapping my
creative juices to see if I can rise to the challenge. I'll probably be
posting my hits and misses on GTG, so strap in folks- it'll be an interesting ride!

I
was inspired by the side part in Elsie's (pictured above) hair.
Moreover, I love the way her hair recedes to the background,
highlighting her pretty face as the star attraction. My rendition,
however, ended up being a smidgen more dramatic than I had originally
intended.
Look at all that poof! |
The 360 |
Squint~ I promise, there is a side part in there.
You
guys already understand how anti combs I am (on non-wash days), so
using one to get a clean part for this style was a giant leap for me.
I did a lot of patting and pinning to secure it all |
This
style was actually fairly easy to do. The toughest hurdle was in
securing a trillion pins into my hair, which has the tendency of pushing
them right back out of the tucks I've placed them in.
Does that ever happen to you? I've oftentimes, been that girl with the wayward bobby pin sticking out clumsily. They like to slowly slide up and out of my hair like bean shoots.
The Shea Butter Miracle Buttery Creme from my dry wash n go has my hair still feeling exceptionally moisturized |
The
part was made above my right eyebrow. Afterwards, I began rolling and
tucking my hair into itself, and then pinning. I moved backwards (right ear, nape, left ear) until I reached the front of my head, above my left brow.
At the front, I tucked the remaining hair up and into itself, with a slant over to my left.
In the end, it kinda looked like I'd conjured up Elvis... Johnny Bravo... Bruno Mars... hmm... Prince perhaps? I think it would do well under a bird cage veil.
Style proper...
Ooh! And stay tuned for the Hair Care Crash Course series wrap up!
How pretty are you? Love it!
ReplyDeleteLol how kind are you?!
DeleteHmmmm..I guess people are doing things a little differently now, because Summer weddings used to be huge. I like the idea of a fall wedding though.
ReplyDeleteNice hair style...it did remind me of Johnny Bravo tho..lol
It will look good as wedding day hair because it is very elegant.
Ha ha! But Johnny Bravo is stylish tho DB.
