Geri's Curls Ow!

Alright alright, enough teasing. :-)
Over the weekend, on yet another impulsive whim, the notion to revisit a fond and former hairstyle staple azonto’d its way right across my mind.  Years ago, during a stunted foray into relaxer free territory, (I’d transferred to a new university, and for six ensuing months, failed in finding a suitable hair dresser), I fumbled my way into ultimately, relying solely on curly roller sets in between hair dressers.

Ey ya!  See cherublike cheeks o!
6 month relaxer stretch-  I relaxed soon afterwards

The curly roller set gets my stamp of approval as an easily maintainable style, specifically for anyone who is transitioning into becoming natural, but might not know how to wear their hair before committing to a big chop.   It's superbly forgiving, in terms of, dealing with the two textures of a transitioner's hair.

It's been quite a few years since I last attempted a curly fro, and my hair is certifiably longer than it's ever been.  So, after watching a few youtube tutorials; okay, I really re-watched Jouelzy's video over and over (the music is hypnotic), I went for it.

The Technique
My hair was still pretty moisturized from the stretched braidout.  Every other day, I'd been moisturizing and sealing simply with water and my shea butter mix.  Each night, I would gather my hair into a very low bun.  The next morning, after I would unravel the bun, my hair would be stretched, and eventually it evolved into image #1.

I generously coated sections of hair with the Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter Curl Creme before I rolled them into varying rod sizes (the skinniest were blue and the largest were white).  The rods were left in over night, and 8 approximate hours later, the rods were removed...

Pretty good, right??
... and the curls were gently separated.

Toying around with the parting- tres versatile!

The Moisture Butter Curl Creme left my hair smelling great (yay), but feeling a tad greasy (boo).  My hair was also incredibly soft- the curls were tumbling this way and that.

 LOVED!

I will be uploading Day 2 hair shortly, so stay tuned!

    1. BTW (yes, I'm back), your description of your hair as 4c has inspired a blog post on hair typing, which I pretty much started writing here, before I decided to stop guano-ing your post and write it on my own blog.
