Post Henna, Hair Rehab

Hey guys!
I know.  The posts have been sluggish this month, but I'd never leave you completely hanging.  This, however, will be a quick drop in to show you how my hair is holding up post-henna.

Oh!

And, before we get into it; I would like to know if there are any questions or posts you would like to see discussed here?  Youtube videos are still on hold, for the moment, as I continue to sort out my funds in hopes of purchasing a more fabulous camera, but I promise more are on the way.

But yes, truthfully, I'd already been considering including the questions that I receive from y'all, on the blog.  That way, the answers would be visible for everyone to read and take from.  But this time, just as the thought was oncemore, sliding its way the into the recesses of my mind and to the bottom of my blog to-do list, never to be seen or heard from again,
(hello procrastination, you devil you)
I got another question from one of you awesome readers!

Q:  Hi Geraldine!
I love your blog and you have helped me so much so far. I have been looking at your pictures and I see how your hair always looks like it is soft and moisturized. What do you do daily to keep your hair moisturized? Thank you so much for your help.
~Veronica

It's funny that Veronica's question is about moisture, especially, since I recently, opted to nurse my breaking ends with henna and frequent moisturizing sessions.

So, here we go-

A: Thank you so much for following along hon.  I'm always humbled by the support.  Okay, for moisture; currently, I have in loose twists again, but this time around, I'm moisturizing every other day (or, at least 3 days a week).

My regimen is this:  In sections, I spray my hair liberally with rosewater.  I've been feeling fancy lately, lol but regular water is equally good too.  Then, I mix quarter sizes of African Pride Shea Butter Miracle Leave In with Crisco

 Yep, Crisco.
I coat my twists with this.  Then, I move to the next sections.  My idea is to always  hydrate (h2o, rosewater, or aloe vera juice) first, add a creamy leave in on top, and seal with a heavy butter.

Loose bun- loose twists installed shortly after
This has been my routine since the henna treatment; and, you definitely read correctly-  I'm using Crisco (soybean oil and hydrogenated palm oil), bought solely for this purpose, to seal my loose twists.

My moisture regimen will always include product variations of these three steps:

*H2O Hydration
*Creamy leave-in Moisturization
*Oil or Butter Sealant

That's it.

 I hope this helps ladies!

  1. Hi! *waving*
I am in love with your hair!
Trying to not be lazy and adopt this routine. Water, creamy leave in then oil. It truly works!
Do you buy the Luster Pomade online or at a beauty supply store?
I am in NY and would prefer to source it locally if possible.
    Thanks!
Also, your eyebrows are ALWAYS to die for!
    Please make more videos :D

    1. Hey Gabrielle, hey! :-D Thank you for stopping by! Lol vids are coming, and fierce brows are necessary ha ha.

Yes!! It DOES work. Once I understood this about moisture and retaining it, a lot of the guess work was taken out.

I got the Luster's S-Curl 360 Style Wave Control Pomade at ShopRite, and I see it in most BSS.

    2. Thanks so much!
I found it at my local BSS today and I just did a braid-out... Can't wait to take the curlers out in the morning!
I really love that it goes on so clear! I really didn't expect that lol.
What do you use to shade in your brows and highlight around them? I just can't get mine right :(

The winter here is KILLING me, so I'm gonna stick to PSing for a few more months.

    Hang in there! :-)
